We have been so praying for and am driven by the Lord to see a home put up for the children here on the borders that have no hope of ever being more than what they are right now. Many of them are just living day to day in small rooms with parents that just don't know how to help them.
I know this from living with a brother that was just such a child...It took all of mom’s time just care for him and that did not take into account what a problem it was for the children gowning up there too. And when she was not caring for him she was trying work to get a place for these children after thirteen year of trying she was able to find housing for him and that only lasted for a few years and then that was closed down. And know one understands how the family just gets all about what to do for the one with the problem.. This make for a major problem that last for ever. But that does not address the need here and the children here with the same need Many of these children are often asked to live with family member that have children of there own and that ends up with no life for the care taker and there children or the child with the special needs.
But what is the cost to the family living this problem every day.
The dream or vision is so much more than that it is a home...a safety net for these children and the parents of them and the other children in the family.
We have sent lots of money to Mexico to help the children there but the children here on the border are just left to whatever....
Why Am I feeling so pushed by God to do this I really don't know other than I was a child that lived the problem and still do... .But right now the Lord is so wanting something done for the children here on the border so I am asking for Prayer Direction or what ever to find God's will in this. Please if I sound nut that is more than likely true. So please help me and join me in prayer in this matter.
Here is the plan....
Our goal is to open and provided residential living
environments for persons with developmental disabilities. All services provided are based upon the premise that all members served are children of God and shall be treated with dignity and respect. Our mission is to provide for each member the highest quality of services and supports, designed to maximize his/her potential and independence; while encouraging the maximum inclusion in church and community. Involvement in local church communities provides opportunities for worship and fellowship. Devotions at mealtime and group Bible Studies are designed to encourage individual expressions of faith and allow time for sharing joys and concerns.
Services Offered at the Ranch
Cornerstone is committed to providing an environment that is responsive to the needs and expectations of the members it serves. Placement at each of our programs will be structured to provide varying levels of supervision and assistance appropriate to the level of functioning of each member. Each member is supported by a QMRP(Qualified Mental Retardation Professional) who works as their liaison and advocate; coordinating needed services and supports. The intent is to enable each member to achieve greater levels of independence. Services coordinated by the QMRP may include: Speech Therapy, Occupational and / or Physical Therapy, Psychological Services, Medical Services and Therapeutic Recreation.
Cornerstone goal is provided a comprehensive medical care through its staff of licensed nurses. In addition, Cornerstone will utilizes the professional services of many medical professionals which include: a pharmaceutical company, a dentist, a podiatrist, an optometrist, a psychiatrist, a neurologist, medical records, and an orthopedic surgeon. All of these dedicated professionals work together to provide Cornerstone with distinguished medical treatment. These services are not only administered according to regulatory guidelines, but also in keeping with Cornerstone is commitment to providing outstanding services to our members.
Spiritual Development
Cornerstone is committed to the spiritual well-being of each member of the Cornerstone will family. All individuals are viewed as children of God and treated with respect, dignity, and love. Involvement in local church communities provides opportunities for worship and fellowship. Devotions at mealtime and group Bible Studies are designed to encourage individual expressions of faith and allow time for sharing joys and concerns.
Equine Therapy
Equine therapy involves horse-related activities uniquely designed for people with cognitive, physical, emotional and social disabilities. Students of all ages learn horseback riding skills and basic horse care while receiving many benefits such as: improved balance, mobility, muscle tone, coordination and posture, enhanced independence and increased concentration and self-esteem. Riding therapy has proven to be a highly motivational and enriching therapeutic and educational modality for students to set aside their crutches, wheelchairs and disabilities as they settle into the saddle.
We need to start by building the dining hall, children’s vocational training center, and dormitory facility for children with disabilities. We hope to work with children on both sides of the border because of our location, the twenty-five mile area between Eagle Pass and Del Río, Texas. We could feasibly serve children from as far east as San Antonio and as far west as the interior of Mexico, provided the children can get the proper documents to come across the border. We estimate 100,000 children could be helped with such a program.
This building will offer nutrition classes, physical therapy rooms and a movie room. Along with a large dining room, laundry room, and parent training room. All this will be offered to provide the best care for the children who will also be taking part in the riding program across the street at the riding ranch. This will benefit children on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border region.
The Need for this program is over 100,000 children from both sides of the border . We need to help and we need you to help us help the children…!
